So now that it's logged in the history books, the countdown clock begins on Obama's major address in a Muslim capital. It's been alluded to many times, will set the stage for a new era of relations between America and the world, and is supposed to take place within his first 100 days of office. Given his personal history, you've gotta think it's going to be in Jakarta. And what a triumphant return it will be, for a scrubby little kid who loved his nasi goreng.
As he mentioned in his inaugural address, "To the Muslim world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect." New era, indeed! Book your Jakarta hotel room now, because surely an Obama visit is in the works.

"I'm proud that the next president is someone who I have shared time with," said Rully Dasaad, a former Obama classmate and fellow Boy Scout. "It was a crucial time for children our age, it is when we learned tolerance, sharing, pluralism, acceptance and respect of difference in cultures and religions."
How things have changed in Indonesia, and not for the better!!
It's all relative, I guess ... compared to many other Muslim countries, Indonesia is still a model of tolerance!
I won't be so sure about Obama visiting Indonesia any time soon.
He's only lived his life for less than 5 years, and Indonesians make a big deal out of it already.
Not to mention hoping too much that Obama will treat Indonesia differently just because he grew up in Menteng.
If there was anything that he'd treat in favour, and put on top of his priorities, that would be the country he lives and manages, which is the USA, not Indonesia.
Wait and see ... in "The Audacity of Hope" you can tell he has a major soft spot for the place ... it had a real effect on an impressionable kid. I bet he's there within three months!
The Indonesian citizens are enough with most of big party politics.
They want party politics that can be tested on “open dialog” and not just “party leader speech” and spreading banners.
The community, raised by a fan of PNBK is searching for more and more party politics that are not afraid for open dialog. The PNBK has been thought for long as a simplest political party that promotes more on dialog than just a big open-day type of speech. The party popularity is getting dimmed by the dialog method that are not well covered in media due to lack of funding, yet it still continue its struggles by initiating low profile open dialogs in any small regions across Indonesia.
